10 Tips To Safe Online Shopping

The internet has changed our buying habits. Many people have found the convenience of online shopping to be a great experience. You can easily click and see the product. You have a fun time shopping, browsing, reading and getting informed about products. And you don’t have to take time out from your busy schedule to fight traffic, crowds and lines to buy the perfect gift for your recipient.

No wonder Internet business generated $301 billion in revenue last year, by a University of Texas estimate.

If you compare shopping online to offline you would think as far as security goes, it would favor offline shopping, right? Not really.

In the years past, shoppers were more reluctant to do their shopping online – now things have changed greatly. And that confidence in consumers directly reflects the enormous growth of online sales.

I have a friend who took his wife out for a romantic evening to a local restaurant. The last place you would expect credit card fraud to happen. By the time he noticed they had charged him double the amount for their dinner, it was too late to go back to the restaurant. He rang me and we concluded that it must be a mistake. It was later that we found out that the restaurant owner’s reputation was a bit shaky. Apparently he frequently overcharged customers in the hope they wouldn’t notice.

I don’t know. It’s a funny world we live in.

Does this mean the internet is safe? Relatively yes, but don’t forget, the Internet is an open field and there are some bad elements out there.

We have been shopping online for years. We never had a problem with credit card fraud on the Internet. But then again, we always take precautions. From this point forward, you will see 10 checkpoints online merchants have to pass to secure our business...

GOOGLE ADSENSE Will your credit card details be safe?

Reputable companies online know that one of the things preventing customers from placing orders with them is customers not been sure whether their credit card details will be safe. Responsible companies have taken this concern onboard and have set up their systems to provide the customer with maximum security.

How would you know if you are entering your payment details on a secure page?

You should see a picture of a lock on the bottom right hand side of your screen. This lock will appear on the page that you fill in when ordering and ensures that your name, address and credit card information is being sent to the online store through encrypted code. This encrypted code means that a hacker will not be able to steal your credit card information.

Does the online store value your privacy and confidentiality?

Prior to the internet days, when I used to order something from a mail order company, mysteriously I would be sent advertising from companies that I hadn’t done business with. Back then I didn’t know that companies sold your personal information for advertising purposes to other companies.

Receiving junk mail was annoying but because of the cost involved, it didn’t happen constantly. Imagine now if you do business online with a company that doesn’t respect your privacy and sells your email address.

Next time you open your email software, you are bombarded with emails ranging from a dozen to hundreds. Now that’s not annoying – it’s intolerable.

So moral of the story here, make sure your email address won’t be sold. Ensure the online store has a privacy statement which would state they will maintain your personal details in the strictest privacy and confidentiality.

GOOGLE ADSENSE Does the online store have contact details?

You may think, of course an online store would display their contact details on their website. You would be surprised. I was. No email address, nothing. This is a sure red flag.

Reputable companies will have contact details.

Do they have a refund policy?

Offline stores have a refund policy and you go into the store, physically select the product and are then allowed to return it for whatever reason. If a refund policy is important in offline stores, it’s twice as important for online stores.

The internet in convenience surpasses the offline world when it comes to shopping - but one thing it can’t match is that offline you can physically touch the product. Therefore a refund policy of 30 days is great, more is better. No refund policy and I would stay away.

Do they send you some sort of confirmation when you place your order?

When you place your order what you need is something to tell you they have receive it, a receipt if you like.

A reputable company will either issue you one via email or display a new page of their website where they thank you and tell you the order went through okay and your product is on its way.

When do they deliver?

What times do they deliver during the day? Do they deliver on the weekends? Can you choose a time to have your gift delivered? Will it be delivered personally to the recipient intended or will the courier leave it outside their door?

How will your gift arrive?

If its flowers, will it come with a vase or in a nice box or wrapped? Will your bouquet contain flower care instructions? How about flower food to make your flowers last longer?

If you’ve ordered another gift product, will they wrap it? In what kind of material will they deliver it? Do they tell you these things on their website?

How long have they been in business?

This may not mean too much. There are companies that start off and surpass all others. But perhaps for your peace of mind, you may want to use an online store that has been in business for some years. To check the history of the company is easy.

You can go to networksolutions.com and click on "whois" on the top bar. You will be taken to a page where you can enter the web address of the online store you want to check and you will receive the relevant information.

Is the online store’s site easy to use?

Is navigating easy? Is looking for products easy? Do their graphics download in a reasonable time? A sure sign of an amateur sight is if they have their website cluttered with information.

Have they gotten any bad reviews?

A reputable company isn’t necessary one that hasn’t any bad reviews to its name. It’s virtually impossible to please everyone.

There have been companies I have bought from and absolutely loved. So it surprises me sometimes when I stumble on a bad review about their products or even bad comments about them.

So when is a bad comment about a company worth considering? I take note of reviews where the writer complains of:

* not receiving the product

* not receiving a refund

* not having their emails answered

If you want to see what kind of reviews a company may have, click on alexa.com. When you get to the website, type in the address of the store you want to check out. This will also show you how long the company has been in business.

Online shopping is fun. Take a little care and make it an experience! Happy shopping!

Converting Your Wedding Videos To DVD

Technology marches ever onward and, as it does, it carries us right along with it. In the early 1980’s, as VCR’s dropped in price and appeared in more and more homes, there was a sudden mass appeal for people to have their old Super 8 home movies converted to video cassette. Video tapes last far longer than film and it just made sense to convert those old reels into a more watchable and compact format. People brought their movies of their baby’s first steps, birthday parties, and weddings and turned them into video tapes. Not long after that, video cameras became cost effective for people to buy and those old super 8 cameras and projectors went the way of the dodo. People began using video tape for everything and the wedding video was born.

Technology has shifted yet again, folks. You may have noticed less and less video tapes at your local Blockbuster store. The medium is becoming extinct, replaced by DVD. Guess what? It’s time to convert yet again. DVD discs last far longer than video tape, offer higher quality picture and sound, and can run longer than video cassettes. By converting your wedding videos to DVD you can ensure that the memories you saved will last even longer.

GOOGLE ADSENSE The process of converting your wedding video to DVD is not complicated, but to do it yourself you will need some special equipment. Obviously you’ll need a DVD recording device and a way for your VCR to connect to it. If you have a DVD burner on your computer, you’re halfway there. You will also need a way for your VCR to interface with your computer. Most computers do not come shipped with a way to do this. You’ll need to install a TV card on your computer that has inputs that match your VCR’s outputs. Most TV cards do have both RF and A/V inputs.

Next you’ll need to record the wedding video onto the computer’s hard drive. You may need special software to do this if your TV card didn’t come with any bundled. Sony’s Vegas Video is a good one, but there are a number of different titles available. Keep in mind that the video will take up a lot of drive space. In order GOOGLE ADSENSE for the video to be placed on DVD it will have to be in an MPEG format. Your video recording software should be able to save it this way. Once that is done, it’s simply a matter of using your DVD burning software to transfer the video onto a DVD disc that you can then watch on any DVD player. The software will have instructions for doing this. Once the process (which can take some time, be warned) is complete, viola! Your wedding video is now on DVD and can be enjoyed forever.

If you don’t have or can’t afford the equipment and software to follow the preceding steps, fear not. There are companies that can take away all of the hassle and transfer your wedding videos to DVD for you, for a price. Whichever method you choose will have the same end result and you’ll be enjoying your old wedding videos and other home movies on a new format that’s built to last.

15 Questions to ask your software vendor

GOOGLE ADSENSE When making a decision to buy any piece of software there are a number of criteria typically evaluated. One of the most important elements in the decision process is the strength of the company that builds the software. In fact a survey of 19,000 customers has identified that company strength is the most important factor in choosing software, with the price of the software being the fifth most important element.

In evaluating a company's strength I would suggest you ask the following 15 questions, the answers to which will provide invaluable information in determining the viability of the company, their processes and their commitment to the product you are reviewing.

1.How long have you been in business?
2.When was you last upgrade released? When is the next one planned?
3.What's involved in doing an upgrade?
a.Can your customer's do it?
b.Are upgrades included in your annual fee?
c.Are they downloadable from your website?
d.Is documentation (installation instructions etc) included with the upgrades?
4.Are manuals available for the software?
5.Does the software update cost include phone based tech support?
6.What percentage of customers are current with their annual support contract?
7.Where is the product heading? Technology/Functionality? When do you plan to get their?
8.When did you last put your prices up?
9.Are you planning for the next realease of Windows yet?
10.Can i build my own reports?
11.Why did you choose your current development platform?
12.What does it cost to have someone come onsite a fix a problem?
13.Who does the training, are there scheduled courses?
14.Can i talk to a customer who implemented in the last 6 months?
15.How much have you spent on research and development in the last 12 months?

Importantly there is no right or wrong answer to these questions, and the answers may vary greatly from one vendor to another. There are however some answers that should throw up a red flag:

GOOGLE ADSENSE Question 6 - This is generally a good guage of customer satisfaction. If the vendor can not provide this information, or is not willing to do so then you can anticipate a support issue or poor customer satisfaction with the product.

Question 10 - You should always have the ability to get to your own data. If you require a programmer to build new reports then you will consistently be biting into your ROI.

Question 14 - If the vendor skirts around this issue then they are uncomfortable letting you talk to a recent customer and therefore maybe hiding something from you, perhaps a difficiency in their product or in their implementation process.

Question 15 - The answer to this question identifies how 'productised' the software is. A vendor who regularly evaluates their customer's future requirements and spends money on building these into their product is committed to it's current customers. A vendor who spends money only 'as required' is probably not so committed to building a great product as they are to getting sales.

When getting answers to these questions please also consider that their may be legitmate commercial reasons as to why a question can not be answered, however at a bear minimum your vendor should be able to provide some background into their reasons for not answering.

There are another four important criteria upon which any experienced buyer will evaluate a software purchase which will be covered in future articles.

50th Wedding Anniversary Gift Ideas

A 50th anniversary gift commemorates a milestone most married couples wish to reach. What can you possibly give a couple after 50 years of marriage? The most meaningful wedding anniversary gift is one that comes from the heart: to express your love and appreciation towards all that they mean to you, how their staying married through the thick and thin of life has influenced you, to tell about the warm and loving memories you shared with them throughout the years.

The 50th anniversary is commemorated by gold and the flower is violet. A gift certainly doesn't have to be gold, wrap a gift in gold paper or paper decorated with violets.

50th anniversary gift ideas for the couple
• Keepsake personalized anniversary gifts, such as a photo quilt or pillow
• Monthly or quarterly lo-carb, dietetic or fruit gift baskets
• Restore their wedding photo and place in a gold frame
• Have a painting or caricature made out of their wedding photo
• As they probably don't cook for themselves as much, gift certificates to restaurants would be appreciated
• A gift of theater or concert subscription tickets. Make them a patron with VIP privileges
• The children can create a 50th anniversary keepsake journal gift. Ask family and friends to write a paragraph or two to share a memory with their parents. Or ask for a photo with the couple that the children don't have and write a caption about it
• Instead of a guest book, buy a music box and fill it with messages of love written on gold or handmade paper from family and friends
• Are they up for a cruise? Take them on a weekend or week long cruise. They probably will enjoy sharing this vacation with others
• What could help them personally? Can you lease a car for them? Pay for a kitchen or other home renovation?
• Do they golf? Pay for private lessons or a VIP membership at their favorite club. Buy 2 clubs, have them engraved and then gold plated
• What hobbies do they enjoy? Give them gift certificates for a spending spree at their favorite craft or hobby store
• Buy tickets to a favorite event and pay for their lodging and food expenses
• Do they volunteer or have a favorite charity? Contribute to their favorite organization. Find out if a plaque or some other special mention can be given in their name

The best 50th anniversary gift for the couple is one that helps them to enjoy life more. Many couples don't even want to receive gifts. Give a gift of your time and help. Make up "Gift of Time" or "Labor of Love" coupons to take them out to their favorite restaurant, make them a home-cooked meal, chauffeur them on a shopping trip, run errands for them, take them to a show or movie, have a local landscaping company take care of their property, have their home repainted. Find out what will make a difference in the quality of their life.

Your love and attention will be the most appreciated 50th anniversary gift you can give your parents or a couple. Make the time for those you love!

A Beginner's Guide to Buy Used Golf Clubs

If you are just starting out to play golf, you should never buy a new golf club set immediately as you may discover that this game is not for you later on. Furthermore, you are yet to find the type of golf clubs that fits you during the learning stage. The good choice is to start with cheap used golf clubs. And here are some guidelines to help you to hunt down your first used golf club set:

Golf Rental Clubs

First, you may want to play with the rental clubs at a driving range. During this time, don't be afraid to ask your friends or other golfers to try their clubs on the range. This is a good opportunity for you to judge which type of clubs is right for you. After hitting for a period of time at the driving range and you think it is time to buy your own clubs, then ....

Rely on Golf Expert

When you go out to buy used golf clubs, you should always rely on people who know golf equipment well. You can look for your local pro at your local municipal course as a source of information and advice. Or you can consult the experts at the golf shop or even your friend who plays well or who knows anything about golf clubs. Alternatively, you can search the Internet for used golf club reviews. You can always ask people for advice but keep in mind that what suits them may not necessary prove good in your hands. Therefore, it is more important to identify the golf club set that suitable to your ability yourself.

Golf Beginner's Half Set

As a novice golfer, you are advised to learn with a half set of clubs with all matching iron of the same model. The half-set could be made up from a few combinations of clubs. In general, the half set combination consists of five iron clubs, including 4, 6, 8, pitching wedge and sand iron, in addition to 3 and 5 woods plus a putter. The driver is not recommended in the beginner's half set because it is the hardest club to control. Majority of beginners would achieve better results using a 3 wood on the tee box. Likewise, 1, 2 or 3 irons should be avoided at the early stages of the game, as each of these long irons requires an accurate strike from the middle of the clubface with plenty of club heads speed in order to achieve good results. In contrast, a 5 wood with distance almost equivalent of the 2 iron - the ball can still travel a fair distance despite being hit off-center. Besides, a lofted wood is more forgiving than the thin blade of an iron club heads.

The half set combination not only sufficient for most novice golfers on the golf course for every situation but also makes club selection much easier. It is a good combination of clubs to help the novice to improve their swing technique until they are good enough before they advance to the full set golf clubs. Therefore, you have to make sure to select a golf model for your half set from a reputable manufacturer that can be added to at a later stage.

Golf Feels

The best way to purchase a used golf clubs is to actually hold them in your hand and swing them to get a feel for what you want. The feel of a golf club clearly seems to be all-important. But, what is 'feel'? There is no scientific formula that defines it. In general, feel can be described as the way a golfer feels a club when he or she swings it depends on its swing weight and the flexibility of its shaft.

Iron Club head

Look for club head that made of stainless steel and avoid inexpensive alloy heads. For beginner, you should select the 'heel-and-toe' (or, perimeter-weighted) club head design, cavity backed (hollowed out in the back) and over-sized golf club. You should get bigger club heads because they are more forgiving with enlarges 'sweet spot' that can produce maximum distance even with off-center contacts.

Golf Shafts

Graphite shafts is ideal for beginner even though it is more expensive that steel shafts. Its lighter overall weight allows beginner to swing the club faster even with enlarged clubhead.

Golf Grips

If you have purchased used golf clubs where the condition of the grips could be less than perfect or the grips don't fit properly for you, then make sure you replace them. Grips are fairly easy and inexpensive to change by a pro or club repairman. Ensure all the grips are replaced with same size and design.

Finally, if you are just starting out with golf, chances are your swing is more likely to let you down rather than the golf clubs itself. Having said that, it is still important to try out the golf clubs before buying them in order to find a golf club set that suits your swing, body and game. Most importantly, makes you feel confident when you use it.

Buying Sunglasses Online

The Sky's the Limit when it Comes to Buying Sunglasses Online

There is a never ending supply of quality sunglasses options today, including discount sunglasses. Styles include polarized sunglasses, designer replica sunglasses and fake sunglasses, sports sunglasses, mirrored sunglasses, golf sunglasses, sun glasses for kids and sun glasses accessories. With so many sunglasses to choose from it’s possible to find good quality discount sunglasses on reputable online sites that offer good customer service, money back guarantees, free shipping, sales advice and tips along with a good inventory of sunglasses.

Cheap sunglasses can be found in a wide selection of polarized sunglasses options to include aviator styles, snow boarding and ski goggles, large and small framed designs and a variety of different frame styles. Polarized sunglasses are excellent for water and winter sports where the water and snow can increase the reflected glare. Polarized sunglasses provide glare-free vision by absorbing ninety eight percent of the reflective glare. You can find polarized sun glasses in a variety of lens shades from black, blue, brown, silver, pink, green and red to name a few.

Replica sunglasses are a wonderful way to wear your favorite designer styles and designs without the high costs that come along with designer sunglasses. Just because sunglasses are designer doesn’t mean that they are better quality, often the replica sunglasses are better quality (always look at factors such as lens types, frames and coatings). There is a wide variety of designer replica sunglasses available in a wonderful selection of colors, designs and styles to suit every face shape and lifestyle.

Depending on what sort of sports you enjoy you may need a couple of pairs of sports sunglasses which can get costly, but if you shop wisely you will be able to find the sports sunglasses you need at discounted sunglasses prices. There is an excellent variety of sports sunglasses available to include; baseball sports sunglasses; cycling sports sunglasses; driving sun glasses; fishing sports sunglasses (see the fish before the fish see you); glacier sports sunglasses; golf sports sunglasses; motorcycle sun glasses; polarized ski goggles; tennis sports sunglasses and sports sunglasses for water sports. Polarized sports sunglasses will help minimize glare offering better vision along with protection. There are plenty of brand name discount sports sunglasses to be found.

The sports eyewear sunglasses are really best known for their excellent optical quality and the visual enhancement of the lenses. Some examples where visual enhancement of the lenses can be extremely helpful are with golf sports sunglasses and tennis sports sunglasses. The golf sports sunglasses are very useful for seeing the subtle breaks in the green without squinting. With the color enhanced lenses you will be able to play the fairway in low sun angles, eliminate fogging, have maximum fields of vision while accommodating for grass reflection. Tennis sports sunglasses may use a yellow enhancement on the lenses to aid in seeing the tennis balls more clearly, therefore improving your game.

Another popular type of sunglasses is the mirrored sun glasses styles. Mirrored sun glasses can be found with polarized mirror lenses in many colors. Mirrored sun glasses lenses have a highly reflective coating which greatly reduces the amount of light that reaches the eyes. They can absorb ten to sixty percent more light than uncoated lenses.

When it comes to shopping for your children’s sunglasses you’ll want to not only find discount sunglasses prices but quality sunglasses. By quality sunglasses you’ll want to know that the sunglasses lenses and sunglasses frames your children wear will stand up to the bumps and knocks that come along with being a child. There is a wide selection of children’s sunglasses to include sizes, designs and styles for kids, infants, youth and teens. Sunglasses frames can be found in an assortment of colors such as baby blue, black, pink, tortoise, red, white, yellow and purple to name a few with an even wider variety of styles similar to their adult counterparts. Your children will also be pleased to find designer frames.

Of course you’ll want to have the right sunglasses accessories to complement your collection of sunglasses. Some popular sunglasses accessories can include items such as; sunglasses cases, sunglasses bags (micro fiber, leather, vinyl and fleece), floater cords and basic string cords, visor clips (great for clipping sunglasses onto your vehicle visor), metal cases, soft cases, lens care (micro fiber lens cleaning cloths, disposable lens cleaning wipes, no fog spray) and clip on sunglasses (for clipping onto prescription eye wear.

It’s important to note that just because sunglasses are designer names or high priced doesn’t necessarily mean they are better quality, quite often discount sunglasses are better quality as discount online sunglasses sites can offer lower prices as the merchants do not have to pay high overheads (rents and displays). When shopping for sunglasses look at factors such as the quality of the sunglasses lenses look for quality polycarbonate and glass lenses, strong frames and check coatings of the lenses for UV (ultraviolet) protection.

Helpful Suggestions for Purchasing Sunglasses

There are so many styles to choose from, just how do you pick the best sunglasses for you? Following are some important points to consider.

Sunglasses are a necessary form of protection for anyone venturing outdoors. Sunglasses protect our eyes from the harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays while reducing glare and protecting eyes from sun-related eye problems. That said there have never been more sunglasses options, designs, technology and styles to choose from.

Whether your sunglasses needs are in a designer pair of sunglasses, sunglasses for your children, performance and sport sunglasses, prescription or non-prescription sunglasses it will be difficult to select just one pair.

There are a few helpful suggestions to aid you when purchasing sunglasses. It is important that the frame fits comfortably on your face, if you do select a frame that is too large keep in mind it can often be adjusted. If metal frames are chosen they can sometimes be slightly bent for a better fit, plastic frames can often be heated for a better fit. There are recommendations for finding sunglass shapes and colors that will complement your own face shape and coloring, ask your salesperson for ideas. It might be noted that sunglasses in general are taking on larger sizes, as wearers want ultimate protection from the sun’s harmful rays.

It is also important to only purchase sunglasses with ninety nine to one hundred percent UVA and UVB protection, labels should be attached to the lenses. It is a good idea to wear sunglasses that block the sun from all angles by wearing a large framed pair of glasses that wrap around the face. A wide brimmed hat may also be worn for further protection.

Designer sunglasses have never been more abundant or popular. The sunglasses usually keep in step with the particular image that the designer has already created with their clothing, advertising and accessory designs. Most often if you like the clothing from a designer you will appreciate their sunglasses lines. The only way to know for sure is to try the glasses on and find what looks best on you. Along with designer sunglasses celebrities are bringing out designs Like the designers they try to stay consistent with the image they have created through their music, movies, television and modeling.

Sunglasses are just as important for children as they are for adults, probably even more so considering most children spend more time playing outdoors in direct sunlight then do adults. It may however be a bit difficult to get your children to wear sunglasses when outdoors. Fortunately the options in children’s sunglasses prove to be quite appealing for children, and hopefully the designs available will keep them wearing the shades on a regular basis. Children’s sunglasses are available for purchase at specialty sunglasses stores, optical shops, and optical chain stores and from your optician. It should be noted that sunglass lenses are impact resistant (this is required by the FDA) but not shatterproof, which is why many parents prefer the polycarbonate (shatterproof) lenses for their children’s sunglasses since they are strong and durable. Sports sunglasses and sports eyewear are another option for children instead of regular sunglasses, as the sports sunglasses will be more durable. Sunglass clip-ons for children’s prescription eyeglasses can also be purchased.

The popularity of outdoors sports such as skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, rock climbing, golfing, sailing and kayaking have created top of the line designs and excellent technology in sports lenses. Sports sunglasses are available in lightweight, durable materials, flexible designs with no slip designs and wonderful lenses options. Tinted lenses are made in a variety of shades to help efficiency in certain situations. The polycarbonate (shatterproof) lenses are extremely strong and impact-resistant giving benefit to people involved in high impact sports. The polarized lenses are a great choice for people participating in sports such as sailing and skiing where water and snow are involved. Of course there are multipurpose sunglasses, with some sunglasses in a changeable lens system design offering different lenses for different conditions.

Prescription eyeglass wearers can purchase prescription sunglasses with all the styles and options of regular sunglasses. The nice thing about owning prescription sunglasses is that you can wear your sunglasses outdoors and not have to continually be searching for your clip-on eyeglass covers. Prescription sunglasses are available from basic to high prescription needs with bifocal and progressive lens options. Prescription sunglasses are also available in designer and celebrity designs, unless there is a severe curve in the wrap, which would cause distortion. The photochromic lenses are a convenient choice allowing the wearer to go from sunlight in which the lenses would be dark to the indoors where the lenses become lighter, unfortunately with these particular sunglasses the UV is not in the lens unless specially applied.

The non-prescription (plano) sunglasses come in a vast variety of styling, designs and materials. The shapes and styles for both men and women range from sporty, to retro, rectangular, futuristic and glamorous to bejeweled and embellished looks. The Jackie O shapes, and variety of tinted lenses from blue to coral are the most popular styles of the moment. There are also designs, which come in rimless and semi-rimless options. Frame materials include plastic, metal and specialty metals such as stainless steel, aluminum and titanium (all offering lightweight and durability). The classic aviator style of the 1950 and 1960’s is another popular option. Jewels and rhinestones on the front or temples is another trend.

Sunglasses come in more designs and styles than imaginable. It has never been more fashionable to be safe. Regardless of whatever design you select the bottom line is the sunglasses are protecting an important asset, your eyes. Everyone is susceptible to sun-related eye problems that can range from UV light damage of the cornea and retina to cataracts, protecting your eyes is of the utmost importance to ensure your future eye health. Always be sure to purchase lenses with ninety nine to one hundred percent UVA and UVB protection. I Want the Best Swatch Watch

Have you heard of a 'Swatch Watch'? Who designed the first swatch watch? And what are the different types of swatch watches available? What do you need to know to buy the best swatch watch?

You might not have heard about Jacques Muller but he is the one who designed the swatch watch. Muller was made redundant by a watch making firm. He joined ETA at Grenchen and worked with another engineer Almar Monk. The CEO of ETA was Dr.Thomke.

Muller was a great admirer of his 2CV Citroen car. He thought. 'If only I could have a watch as simple as my 2CV'. His main principle was to have less pieces to assemble and more durability and less breakdowns.

But his 2CV engine was in use only when he went out for a drive. His watch had to tick day and night for years at 90Km/hour. Both Muller and Monk worked separately and then presented the first ever swatch watch to Dr. Thomke on 27 March, 1980.

What started as a very small project has grown enormously now. Now there are swatch watches of various types:

Have you heard of the very collectible, very hard to find, standard gents Swatch watch that is highly sought after? Many collectors believe it to be one of the most beautiful Swatch watch ever made.

There are others which are Shock-resistant and water-resistant.

Have you heard of Jelly Fish. Jelly Fish was introduced by Swatch in 1985. This has differently coloured hour, minute and second hands.

There are swatch watches that have been working non-stop for decades.

What are the differences between the swatch and traditional watches?

The traditional watches had 130 parts, the electronic watches had 90 parts but the swatch watches had only 52 parts.

The traditional process of production involved three stages.
1. Manufacturing the case
2. Manufacturing the parts and assembly of the mechanism
3. Putting the mechanism in the case

Swatch has combined these three stages into one.

Buy yourself a cool Swatch Watch or Gift a Swatch watch and add to a dear ones precious collection.
